Dainik Purbokone

The Dainik Purbokone, which translates to “East Angle,” is a Bengali-language local newspaper in Chittagong, Bangladesh. In 1986, the publication was established. As per figures released by the Ministry of Information’s Department of Films and Publications, on August 28, 2019, it had the most extensive readership among the significant publications issued from Chittagong, with 62,100 copies. Suboxone was named the top daily in a 1994 review by the Bangladesh Press Institute.


Soltan (supposedly read ‘chol tan) was a prominent Bengali Muslim community publication. It is a Chittagong newspaper, and its headquarters are in Chittagong. Mirza Muhammad Yusuf Ali, the writer of Shaubhagya Sparshamani, sponsored the establishment of Soltan in 1903. Maniruzzaman Islamabad was the newspaper’s first publisher. The publication covered topics affecting Muslims across the globe. It ceased publishing in 1904 but was resurrected in 1926 and published till 1928. Maniruzzaman Islamabad, the newspaper’s publisher, had progressive beliefs. The publication also supported the Swadeshi revolution.


The Azadi newspaper is a Bangla daily newspaper based in Chattogram Newspapers. On September 5, 1960, The Azadi was first printed. The publication was pro-democracy and backed several East Pakistan secession initiatives. The Pakistani government placed it on a year-long registry and barred it from accepting government advertisements. During the Liberation War of Bangladesh, it ceased operating for three months.
